On Saturday, February 1, 2025, the Evergreen Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue was transformed into a dazzling “Casino Royale” for the annual Friends of FSH Research Gala and Auction. The evening was a resounding success, filled with generosity, joy, and unforgettable moments.Â

The event commenced at 5:00 PM with a champagne reception and silent auction. Guests mingled, sipped on fine bubbly, and perused an array of enticing auction items. The atmosphere was electric, setting the tone for the nights festivities.

As a contributor to the evening entertainment, I had the pleasure of teaching a dance session, guiding attendees through elegant moves that resonated with the Casino Royale theme. The dance floor soon became a hub of activity, with guests showcasing their newfound steps and reveling in the rhythm of the night.

Adding to the evenings allure was my Photo Booth, a popular attraction that captured the nights most memorable moments. Attendees donned props and struck poses, creating keepsakes to commemorate the occasion. The booth was a constant flurry of laughter and flashes, highlighting the camaraderie and spirit of the event.

The culinary offerings were nothing short of exquisite. The menu featured a delightful array of dishes, including an arugula and romaine salad with shaved watermelon radish, quinoa, chickpeas, pistachios, and a mint lemon dressing. Guests had the option to choose from entres such as grilled eggplant steak with smokey paella, porcini-rubbed filet mignon with cherry cabernet sauce, and orange soy mahi-mahi with miso ginger butter sauce. Desserts alternated between a rich cheesecake with poached apple and a decadent flourless chocolate cake with dark chocolate ganache.

The live auction, led by auctioneer Matt Lorch and emceed by Sasha Summer Cousineau, was a highlight of the evening. Bidders enthusiastically vied for exclusive packages, vacations, and unique experiences, all in support of advancing research for Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD). The generosity displayed was truly inspiring, underscoring the community’s commitment to finding a cure.

Following the auction, DJ Sean Denard took over, and the dance floor came alive. The energy was palpable as guests danced the night away, celebrating the evenings successes and the collective effort towards a noble cause.
